Thank you for reading last week's message about my marketing midlife crisis. I think it was important for you to understand where I've been so you can appreciate what I plan now for "The Journey," a bi-weekly email from me to you.
I really mean that: From me to you... because you should always write to one person.
The "one person I'm writing to" is you, a friend of mine who's interested in what I learned this week. And since I promised to write weekly, you know (and can look forward to?) my Wednesday morning emails.
Some weeks will be better than others. It's good we get that out of the way so I don't have to stress over saying something "really smart" every week.
This might be a good time for a musical interlude and a sentiment I share with Tom Cochrane.
I want to ride it all night long
If you're going my way
I want to drive it all night long
The most important driver to B2B marketing success
I've been writing emails to readers for nine years now.
But I didn't realize until recently: Emails don't have to be only for blog posts, upcoming webinars, and events.
It never dawned on me before! I only wrote you when I did something "big enough." So when writer's block hit, I had nothing to send you.
Now liberated, I can share insights and discoveries, even if they didn't "merit a blog post" – my old standard for a post, that is..
Implication for your business: By setting your customers' and prospects' expectations you'll write weekly, you'll be top of mind when they next need [whatever you do].
And being consistent is one way to do that. (This is the kind of thing I think about for my clients.) So:
- What do you do consistently to manage your customers' expectations?
- Will they remember you when they need your product or service?
Think about it.
Fast Round
Here's how to customize the URL to your LinkedIn Company Page... and why it matters. My LinkedIn company page ended in company-beta/2182926 which looked like crap. What is "company beta?" Anyhow, I wrote LinkedIn and got a vanity URL for medicalmarcom. You can claim your own vanity LinkedIn URL and this story shows you how.
Wistia vs. YouTube: What's the Difference? I'm going to start making videos. It's a little scary. I'll share the journey and you'll see, if I can do it, you can do it. I decided to pay Wistia to host my videos, despite YouTube being bigger and free. This article tells you why.
Do you buy banner ads? You're probably wasting your money. 91% of the budget spent on banner ad buys is viewed for less than a second.
Discover Hunter.io. I found and opened a free account at hunter.io. It helped me find business email addresses for free.
Thank you for joining me on The Journey.
How'd I do? ????
P.S. Safe Sender, please: I decided I will include videos, graphics, and whatever helps me communicate with you, so please click here to learn how to add me to your safe sender list. Thanks!
